Repairs were made in the last week on the club’s BCWARN network.  New outdoor CAT5 ethernet cable was run between the clubroom and the 5 GHz dish on 50 feet up on the clubhouse roof.  Ian Procyk from BCWARN was at the club on Saturday to initialize the link to their tower on Mount Seymour, and fine-tune the aiming of the dish.

For those unaware, BCWARN is the British Columbia Wireless Amateur Radio Network.  The BCWARN network provides the club with a secure internet and telephone connection via microwave.  If a natural disaster causes the widespread loss of internet or telephone to the region, the club will maintain an internet connection and telephone signal via microwave to a source outside the region.  Additional details on BCWARN can be found here:  www.bcwarn.net.
