FAQ from Aarron:

Q: What is the i5 processor configuration for the Toughbooks?
A: Our selection of Toughbooks range from Mk1 to Mk4, with the majority being MkIII. However, I have personally observed no notable differences in speed among any of the units, regardless of the Mk version. Each unit has an SSD and 8GB of RAM. For your peace of mind, assume that you will receive a basic Toughbook with 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD, and Windows 10 Pro in fair condition. If your unit comes with additional items, then consider it a bonus. 🙂

Q: Is the upgradable RAM an aftermarket item or do you have it available?
A: The unit will come with 8GB of RAM, and any upgrades beyond that will be up to you once you have the unit in your possession.

Q: Can you provide more details about the “additional optional add-ons” mentioned in the ad?
A: Some units come with GPS or Sierra Wireless cellphone modules. However, regardless of the internals, all Toughbooks are priced at $200 and have the specifications of 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD, and Windows 10 Pro. As mentioned earlier, assume that you will receive a basic unit and be pleasantly surprised if you receive something different. Most of the models we have are ex-RCMP cruiser Toughbooks, and all the units we have cleaned and tested so far have the cellphone modules.

Q: I plan to use the unit in a challenging environment, so minor wear and tear on the external case is not a concern for me. However, I have encountered refurbished units with keyboards so worn that the key labels were barely visible, or the keys were sticky or had to be pressed “just right” to work. Can I expect these units to be in good condition without such issues?
A: These units will be in “good to fair” condition. All the keyboards are in great shape, and the screens are average to good. Each unit comes with a charger and the battery it came with when it was donated to us. Although these are not new units, I will not send you anything that is excessively worn out. You are a part of my provincial community of exceptional volunteer EmComm colleagues, and I want to provide you with a decent piece of discounted equipment while also helping raise funds for underprivileged children. Cheers!

Note

Due to donation regulations, we have a limit of two units per verified Callsign, and we can only ship within BC via CanadaPost at your expense. These units are not light, and shipping within BC will cost an average of $30 per unit.
