This year’s Vancouver Sun Run is on Sunday, April 22nd. It’s only 46 days away! Every year, amateur radio operators from the greater Vancouver area volunteer for field radio operations during the event. Volunteers are placed throughout the course, acting as the eyes and ears of the event. We play a critical role in helping respond to medical emergencies and help reunite lost children with their families. Participating as a volunteer in the Sun Run allows you to gain valuable experience participating in a directed net, with procedures similar to responding to an emergency or disaster. If you’re new to amateur radio, don’t worry, you’ll be paired with an experienced operator who will support you. While the course is the same as last year, positions have been changed to optimize our coverage.
